Our Story
We never thought we’d be here. In 2017, I was a teacher and cross country coach and Katie was a nurse. I enjoyed both but was looking to add some extra income during my spare time before and after school. I had done some coaching on the side, driving for Uber, but knew those weren’t really the long-term vision I had of something that could grow. Despite being a teacher I had a vision of always potentially building something much larger than myself.
MLC started off with Mark and Katie Eichenlaub cleaning up a few local parking lots in the Mokena area. It was a rough start, a grabber tool, some garbage bags, and a broom. We didn’t know what we were doing and our first lot took about 8 hours to clean. We were ready to quit…but after the first cleanup was completed we saw how much better the local shopping plaza looked and the feeling that came with that was something to be proud of. We also found that maintaining a site once it was clean was a much more pleasant experience than the initial cleanup. We also found better tools and techniques to clean up a site initially and use for regular cleanings.
As we proved our worth at site 1 we were given the opportunity to service another site, and another, and eventually were given more sites to manage than the two of us could handle and so we brought on our first employee to handle one, and then another employee. Fast forward 4 years and we have 200+ AMAZING members of the MLC team cleaning in 33 states. We have learned a lot about improving property values, the value of litter-free spaces and communities, and saving money for landlords and property managers. We are as passionate as ever about bringing our services all over the USA to help businesses and properties flourish by making great first impressions.
